Melissa DesRosiers is an accomplished union costume designer and stylist who divides her time between New York City and Los Angeles creating characters for some of the film and television industry's top directors and advertising campaigns. From designing award-winning Super Bowl spots for comedy genius David Shane, to recreating an Olympic boxing match for Romain Gavras, to designing multiple motorcycle clubs for FX's Sons of Anarchy Pilot for acclaimed director, Allen Coulter, Melissa has shown her diverse range of costume design and styling experience.
After studying fashion and textile design in college, Melissa moved to Walt Disney World where she worked alongside Jim Henson's innovators on the first live Muppet Show at MGM Studios.
To hone her design skills, Melissa moved to New York City and began working as an assistant costume designer on Adrienne Shelly's directorial debut. As she continued working on independent features, she garnered the attention of commercial comedy giant, Hungry Man, where her sense of costume design and style complimented the visions of renowned directors Bennett Miller, Allen Coulter, David Shane, and Jim Jenkins. The experience of designing costumes from initial concept to garment construction and being set ready culminated in an extensive knowledge of costume design and earned her a reputation for being a top designer.
Throughout her career, Melissa has had the opportunity to work on many amazing projects with TV/commercial/film cross-over directors such as: Dayton Faris (AT&T), Mike Mills (Facebook), Nabil (Budweiser), Romain Gavras (Powerade), and Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Universal Studios Theme Parks). Designing short films, such as David Shane's "Play Date" and "Plane Crash", as well as Michael Lannan's "Lorimer" (which became HBO's hit series "Looking") has kept her love for storytelling through costume design alive between high-end commercial projects.
Melissa's well-rounded experience has afforded her the opportunity to dress some of Hollywood's most famous faces, including: Martin Scorsese, Roseanne Barr, Chris Rock, Charlie Hunnam, Katey Sagal, Drea DeMateo, Alison Brie, the cast of Orange is the New Black, and Nikolai Coster-Waldau. Additionally, she's dressed hundreds of the world's top athletes and sports personalities, such as Roger Federer, Peyton & Eli Manning, David Ortiz, Shaquille O'Neal, Derek Jeter, Henrik Lundqvist, and Venus & Serena Williams through her long standing relationship with ESPN's This is Sports Center campaign.
Notably, one of Melissa's favorite costume design experiences was collaborating with Allen Coulter and Linson Entertainment on the original pilot episode of FX's "Sons of Anarchy". Currently, Melissa is enjoying working with special effects make-up master, Ed French, designing costumes for Spectrum Cable's "Monsters" campaign.
